Nursery Admissions

The school is responsible for admissions to our nursery. This policy will be used to determine admissions to the Ponteland Primary School nursery classes. As parents do not have a statutory right to appeal to an independent appeal panel in relation to nursery admissions we have adopted a clear set of admissions criteria upon which admission decisions can be made. This allows fair and impartial decisions to be made.

Provision

Ponteland Primary School nursery has 39 places in total, operating two part time cohorts of 26 children as well as an additional 13 thirty hour places. Each part time cohort consists of two and a half day sessions. These are either Monday, Tuesday and half day Wednesday morning or half day Wednesday afternoon, Thursday and Friday.  30 hour places are Monday to Friday for those parents who are eligible for 30 hour childcare. We provide breakfast club and after-school club provision for nursery children, offering greater flexibility for families who may need this extended childcare.

At what age can my child start Nursery?

A child can be considered for a place in the nursery class from the start of the term following their third birthday.  A Nursery place will normally be for the three terms prior to entry into Reception however, if places are available autumn term birthday children may have up to five terms prior to entry into Reception.
